Announced in Sydney last night, Carr has taken home the Multi-residential award for the Gaggenau Kitchen of the Year Design Contest for 2023.

The program awards spaces (and their creators) that forge a new path and set a new precedent in kitchen design. Separated into two categories – Luxury Home and Multi-residential – the Gaggenau Kitchen of the Year Design Contest had 12 projects shortlisted in this year’s program.

Victoria & Burke

Sitting across a large corner site in Camberwell, Victoria & Burke is a multi-residential project with each apartment designed to bring a sense of spaciousness and liveability. Catering to the downsizing market, these residences are planned more akin to a single dwelling as opposed to an apartment. Following this approach, the living areas extend out to encompass dining, kitchen and scullery with European oak chevron timber flooring throughout. Victoria & Burke’s kitchens have been fitted with appliances from Gaggenau, ensuring an elegant and reliable cooking experience.

Of the project, the below was stated in a jury citation:

Winning the ‘Multi-Residential’ award, Victoria & Burke by Carr is a captivating project that brings a strong monumentality in its form, softened by generous greenery, all centred around a historic gumtree. The architectural language of the space manifests a cohesive aesthetic when transitioning from outside to inside, offering both privacy and openness.

Founded in 2020, the Gaggenau Kitchen of the Year Design Contest is an annual awards program run by luxury home appliances Gaggenau. Congratulations to all the other winners!
