Developer Sterling Global is set to make a lasting impression on Melbourne’s Collins Street with a new mixed-use development designed by Carr.

Sterling Global has unveiled plans to turn a prime corner site into a 42-level project sitting opposite Southern Cross Station. The proposed $420m development will rise above two heritage-listed buildings, the former State Savings Bank and the Batman’s Hill on Collins hotel, and features a striking glass-bladed façade.

As shared in the Australian Financial Review, the “glass bladed” twin tower designed by Carr will be set back from the heritage podium and have separate entrances for the residential and commercial spaces. It will include 175 one, two and three-bedroom residences, eight sub-penthouses and penthouses, above a 229-room hotel and 2735 square metres of commercial space.

Adding to the ongoing revitalisation of the Western end of Collins Street, particularly the city blocks on either side of Collins Street between Spencer and King Streets, the mixed-use development is set to become a landmark destination.
