As an Australian practice, Carr has made its presence known through a series of projects of various sizes and sectors. Queensland has been and continues to be a staple of Carr’s contribution to the built environment, with designs that reinforce the region’s subtropical climate, idyllic lifestyle and dynamic property market. Take a look at some of our past and current work in today’s projects listicle.

The Windermere (in progress)
Crafted in close collaboration between Silverstone Developments and Carr, The Windermere is an exclusive offering of 36 elevated residences defined by rigorous attention to detail located in Ascot, Brisbane. Like with all our designs, we began with the fundamentals of place strategy – how you’re going to arrive at your address, into the lobbies and up to the home. This shaped the design of the dual lobbies, enabling smaller vertical communities, rather than one large connecting corridor. Responsible for both architecture and interior design services, Carr’s design seeks to mirror the sense of neighbourhood and community in Ascot – but make it vertical.
Hilton Brisbane Conference and Events Centre (completed)
Working with frequent client Hilton Hotels & Resorts, Carr worked within the iconic structure of a Harry Seidler building to reinvigorate what modern hospitality means and looks like in a hotel environment. The brief was to re-envision the conference and events facilities at Hilton Brisbane to create a contemporary and connected interior environment, with the iconic light-filled atrium one level above. The result accentuates curved forms to create hierarchy and focal points within a regulated and limited volume.

Refinery House (completed)
A 19th-century, heritage-listed building on the banks of the Brisbane River retains its history while transforming into a comfortable four-bedroom guest house defined by a reflective and monochromatic palette of old and new. Previously, the office headquarters for CSR Sugar, Refinery House, sits in the once-industrial neighbourhood of New Farm, Brisbane. The two-storey, riverfront property was purchased by Kokoda Property as a guest house for their interstate team and showcases the calibre of their work.
Ocean Place (in progress)
Encapsulating refined elegance and a deep embrace of natural materials, the design of Ocean Place reflects its beachfront context with calm confidence. Spanning 20 levels, it presents a cohesive and singular design expression, one that foregrounds orientation, form, and palette while also offering a distinctive point of difference in the Burleigh Heads market.
Ruby Ruby, Milton (in progress)
A luxurious enclave for residents, the Ruby Ruby Penthouse Collection celebrates purity of design with a perfect combination of wellness, entertaining, and liveability. Contrasting materials offer something unique to Brisbane’s multi-residential market. Monolithic forms reappear throughout — from statement pieces like the kitchen island bench and pool to the more subtle details in the joinery and furniture — coming together to create a holistic, luxurious enclave for residents.

Norton Rose Fulbright, Brisbane (completed)
Continuing Norton Rose Fulbright’s tradition of striving for innovation and excellence, the Brisbane office, completed by Carr in 2011, combines highly considered design and environmentally sustainable principles. The fitout met the building’s 5 Star NABERS rating and a 5 Star Green Star Certification. The workplace has a strong focus on indoor environmental quality, reflecting the firm’s commitment to employee well-being.
Iconic Australian Enterprise (completed)
This workplace project, completed in 2018 for an iconic Australian business, is an agile and dynamic space instilling a sense of community and positivity. With key design principles of agility, diversity, and community at its core, Carr has created a workplace for this Brisbane-based government enterprise that delivers a professional yet welcoming environment, connecting and supporting its diverse workforce. The embodiment of the local vernacular and historical references is ever-present, but more importantly, the transformation has resulted in a thriving, buzzing community.
