Carr is thrilled to share that Como Terraces has been awarded the 2026 UDIA National Award for Excellence in Design, recognising the project as a leading residential development across Australia.
Led by our clients Cbus Property and Sterling Global, the project reflects a shared commitment to design quality, long-term value and a considered approach to urban living. This national recognition follows Como Terraces’ success at the 2025 UDIA Victoria Awards, where it received the award for Best Luxury Development, and a commendation for Medium Density Development.
Situated on Melbourne’s city fringes in South Yarra, Como Terraces brings together architecture, interiors and landscape in a cohesive response to its context. Working in close collaboration with landscape architects Taylor Cullity Lethlean and head contractor Hacer, the project is defined by a careful balance between built form and landscape, where each element supports a broader, integrated vision.
At its core, the design prioritises liveability. Generous planning, access to light, and a strong relationship to landscape underpin the residential experience, while a restrained material palette reinforces a sense of longevity and clarity. The project is conceived as a series of calm, enduring spaces that support daily life while contributing positively to the surrounding neighbourhood.
This recognition reflects the strength of collaboration behind Como Terraces. From the outset, the ambition was to create a place defined by clarity, craft and a lasting connection to its context. It is rewarding to see that design intent acknowledged at a national level.”
Rather than pursuing a singular architectural gesture, the approach is measured and deliberate. Built form is shaped to sit comfortably within its context, with attention given to proportion, rhythm and material expression. This clarity extends through to the interiors, where planning and materiality are resolved with a focus on usability, comfort and refinement.
The integration of landscape is central to the project’s identity. Outdoor spaces are not treated as an adjunct, but as a defining element of the living experience, reinforcing a connection to place and supporting wellbeing for residents.
This recognition at a national level highlights the value of collaboration across client, consultant and design teams. It reflects a shared ambition to deliver a project that is both enduring and meaningful, and that contributes to the evolving character of South Yarra.
