As Carr moves into its sixth decade, Christian’s appointment contributes to the studio’s next generation of leaders. Christian’s new role continues Carr’s commitment to commercial interior design as its portfolio of projects and sectors continues to widen.

Managing Director Chris McCue shares, “Christian’s expertise and design ethos truly reinforces Carr’s design philosophy for rigorous and detailed outcomes. He joins Carr at an exciting time with several major local and interstate commercial projects underway.  As we further enrich our capability in the leadership team, we look forward to his valuable contribution and inclusive approach to the ongoing success of our studio.”

Beginning his professional journey in 2004 in the world of engineering and automotive design, before moving into interiors in 2006, Christian spent two years working in London on large-scale projects where he brought a considered eye to the finer details. Also a furniture maker, he takes pride in the craftsmanship and history inherent in every space or object, ensuring the end user is always kept front of mind.

As an Associate, Christian implements his technical decision-making with his appreciation of cultural and historical contexts and believes successful design lies in research. Combining this with his project management skills, Christian promotes consistent communication across the board with his approachable and friendly nature.

Skilled at translating a client’s vision into a reality, Christian decodes the logical intricacies of the brief into a series of realistic moves that are constantly user-focussed. He encourages shared responsibility to foster engaging and inclusive teamwork between clients, colleagues, and consultants. An avid and award-winning advocate of universal design, Christan believes this approach ensures the reliability of the building for longer, which is also an abiding vision of the studio.

On his appointment, Christian shares, “In joining Carr, I look forward to contributing to the already established execution of innovation and captivating solutions. My goal is to solidify a role focused on refining and implementing smart design solutions, and the commercial interiors sector is an exciting avenue for this.”
