Peninsula House

Architecture and Interior Design

Positioned at the end of a winding driveway, 600m from the property boundary, the pavilion design of the Peninsula House is an interpretation of the Australian vernacular outbuildings prevalent in the farming district. Capturing views of Bass Strait across to Phillip Island, the position of the building was determined via a reading of wind analysis data and sculpting of the natural agricultural contours of the site. A steel blade-like roof floats over the off form concrete walls of the linear plan arrangement, enabling uninterrupted views of the coastline. An arrival courtyard builds anticipation of what lies beyond with only the entry door to the residence an indicator of what lies beyond.
